This is a senior-level, individual contributor role focused on translating design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable architectural documents. The position emphasizes technical judgment, constructability, and execution excellence rather than people management, client leadership, or project financial responsibility.
The ideal candidate is deeply experienced, detail-oriented, and motivated by the satisfaction of producing precise, thoughtful construction documentation that supports both design integrity and successful construction.
Core Responsibilities
Lead the technical development of architectural drawings through Design Development and Construction Documents
Produce clear, consistent, and well-coordinated drawing sets suitable for permitting and construction
Develop detailed architectural assemblies that reflect design intent, constructability, and long-term performance
Coordinate architectural scope with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty consultants
Identify and resolve conflicts between architectural intent and consultant systems
Anticipate constructability challenges and proactively propose technical solutions
Support construction-phase documentation through RFI responses, submittal review, and technical clarification
Collaboration & Studio Integration
Work within project teams led by Project Managers
Collaborate closely with the Design Director to ensure faithful execution of design intent
Provide technical insight that supports documentation quality, clarity, and schedule predictability
Contribute to studio-wide technical rigor through example, collaboration, and shared standards
What Success Looks Like
Clear, coordinated, and buildable construction documents
Reduced documentation-related RFIs and late-stage revisions
Reliable delivery of documentation milestones
Positive impact on project team efficiency, clarity, and predictability
