Theatre Projects is looking for a General Manager (GM) to oversee the administrative, financial, risk-management, and day-to-day operations of the US company. The GM has a key decision-making role for the US operation, working closely with the US board of directors, leadership team, and senior business operations staff.
Theatre Projects creates flexible and intimate gathering spaces. While we’re best known for the performing arts spaces we’ve designed or renovated, we also have considerable expertise in creating versatile spaces for the education, convention, corporate, and other live entertainment sectors.
The right person for our team is someone who is comfortable evaluating and developing corporate and financial strategy, marketing plans, and business development strategy. They will have exceptional financial management skills and will be well-versed in leading day-to-day business operations for an AEC or similar professional services firm. We are looking for a clear communicator able to bring clarity to complex topics and empathy to hard conversations who will be dedicated to growth and profitability for the entire team.
We prefer this position to be located in our New York or Connecticut office.

Manage operations for the US company with senior business operations team
Recommend options to and collaborate with the board of directors on strategic business plans and other key strategic and corporate decisions
Identify and mitigate company risk
Develop financial strategies and forecasting and oversee regular financial reporting and activities, in collaboration with senior staff
Proactively manage cash flow and capital in coordination with controller
Determine business development strategies and marketing plans in coordination with senior staff, and oversee implementation
Coordinate globally with the UK company on shared projects, shared expenses, US projects in their regions, and financial coordination where appropriate
We’re looking for someone who has:
At least ten years of general management experience for a successful professional services firm or arts organization with demonstrable growth
Solid understanding of corporate finance, marketing, and sales and experience leading same
Demonstrable track record of successful change management
Experience negotiating domestic contracts
Proven ability to work collaboratively with a partnership structure and a board of directors
