The City of Stockton is seeking to fill a Plan Check Engineer position in the Building & Life Safety Division of the Community Development Department (CDD). The Building and Life Safety Division is responsible for the enforcement of building codes, laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to building construction and remodeling within the City of Stockton. The incumbent will perform complex work involving the review, examination, and approval of building construction improvement and repair plans and specifications for compliance with structural and nonstructural requirements, applicable codes and regulations. In addition, the incumbent will plan, direct, and review the work of assigned plan checkers. This position reports to the Deputy Director/Building and Life Safety.
The successful candidate will work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: Hours would be between 7:30am to 5:30pm Mondays through Thursdays; 7:30am to 5:00 Fridays, with alternating Fridays off. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends to provide operational support or to attend Board, Commission, or City Council meetings.
Education/Experience:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in architecture, civil or structural engineering or a closely related field
Two years of experience in architectural, civil or structural design or plans and specifications review.
Must possess a valid California registration as Civil or Structural Engineer or be licensed as a Professional Architect
Must possess a valid California driver’s license
