Halff is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and highly collaborative senior architect for the role of Architectural Team Leader to manage a team of 6-10 architects and interns to support our growing Public Works Facilities market in Texas as well as nationally. Growing the Architectural Practice is a significant and strategic priority for Halff. The successful candidate will have a rewarding role in leading and growing our architectural practice. Halff is one of the leading AE firms in the Nation annually providing design services on millions of square feet of projects for private and public clients.
The successful candidate will:
Be a Licensed Architect who demonstrates extensive successful design and management experience with Public Works facilities such as operations centers, maintenance facilities, service centers, water / wastewater support buildings, public safety facilities, Emergency Operations Centers, and other similar types of buildings.
Proven experience managing a team of architects and interns working on multiple projects.
Be responsible for all aspects of project management including preparation of fee proposals, work plans/methodologies, scheduling, quality control, and coordination with all team members to ensure successful and timely completion of projects.
Demonstrate strong collaboration and communications skills with ability to develop strong relationships internally and externally with colleagues and new and existing clients.
Demonstrate strong financial project management skills and experience with project management software systems. Lead design charrettes, design reviews and client presentations.
Ability to recruit, identify capable candidates for our growing architectural practices.
Successfully demonstrate management of geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams comprised of architects, engineers, and specialty consultants.
Demonstrate strong verbal, collaboration, and communications skills with ability to develop strong relationships internally and externally with colleagues and new and existing clients.
Involved in marketing and business development activities including identifying potential opportunities, oversight of qualifications submittals, presentation to potential clients.
Architectural Team Leader - Public WorksResponsibilities:
Function as a project manager and or principal on key projects; Serve as point of contact to clients and internal team members; Lead client and consultant meetings
Lead and manage a quality-oriented and profitable team by evaluating team performance on a regular basis (production, profitability, billing, collections, staffing)
Ensure that drawings incorporate industry standards and compliance with applicable building codes
Work with architects, and engineers through the planning, design and production of project documents; Develop and manage a project work plans
Interface with consultants, owner representatives, and review officials
Keep up to date with technological developments such as new codes, new design concepts, computer applications, drafting methods, etc.
Facilitate consistent team production meetings and balance staffing needs; Understand and experience with Revit software for producing design, drawings, and details; Understand QA processes and how to make needed corrections and/or revisions
Hire, direct and mentor other team members; Assume responsibility for professional growth and development of team members
Ensure team members are involved in mentoring and they are receiving appropriate technical, project management, and leadership training programs, as appropriate
Provide “shoulder-to-shoulder” coaching for team members in the areas of performance management, conflict management and behavior management
Review proposals and contracts to assure that appropriate scope and budget are established.
Maintain close relationships with and retain clients for the long-term, become their trusted advisor
Work directly with Practice Leaders and Business Development Managers to develop marketing strategies for major pursuits
Develop strong marketing skills as needed to maintain good client relations and develop new clients and new services; Be effective at scope and fee negotiation
Architectural Team Leader - Public Works Requirements:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Architecture (required)
12+ years’ experience
Licensed Architect (required)
Working knowledge in design and production of all phases of architectural project delivery including programming, design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
Understanding of building engineering system concepts; Knowledgeable with codes, agency, and standards research; Capable of quickly coming up with design alternatives and solutions
Skilled at design and technical concepts; Revit and MS Office experience required
Project Management software experience required; Excellent organizational and time management skills; Excellent verbal and writing skills
Collaborative, team oriented, and readiness to learn quickly; Ability to meet fast paced project demands
