The Director of Campus Planning Design and Construction (CPDC), under the direction of an Assistant Vice President or above, provides leadership and guidance for the department. This position reports to the Assistant Vice-President of Administration and Finance (position #310210). Manages, directs and coordinates the operations of planning, design and construction oversight for all capital construction projects. Responsible for the development and monitoring of the Campus Master Plan. Develops and reviews all programs for all capital projects. Responsible for the development of construction documents for all capital projects including renovation/remodeling to existing buildings, new facilities, site development and way finding. Develops the three and five-year capital improvement plan for review and approval and submission to the Board of Governors. Responsible for the University’s construction funds and works closely with the University Controller and Budget office. Maintains the Physical Facilities Space File and assists the Space Committee in recommending space assignment. Monitors and updates policies and procedures. Coordinates and conducts the Five-Year Educational Plant Survey. Serves on assigned committees such as the Space Committee, Art Committee and professional selection committees. A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and six years of experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and eight years of experience directly related to the job functions. Requires excellent communication and writing skills and possess good public relations personality. Good understanding of the building design and construction industry, including delivery techniques, understanding of building codes and ADA compliance. Loyalty and professional integrity is a must. This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.
Requires an Architect’s license and a membership in the AIA.
