Strada, a multi-disciplinary design firm, is seeking an experienced Licensed Landscape Architect for our Pittsburgh studio.
Our cross-disciplinary approach to design is immersive, human-centric, and diverse. We actively leverage the expertise and talents from the variety of disciplines within our three studios to achieve exceptional results for our clients. Candidates should be willing to learn and contribute to the design process. We look for individuals who are talented and passionate about their work. Candidates should have a degree in Landscape Architecture from an LAAB-accredited school. We seek individuals with an active interest in diverse project types and design challenges, as well as the desire to integrate landscapes and architecture – including urban landscapes, public open spaces, campus landscapes and commercial mixed-use facilities. Key Responsibilities
Developing landscape design solutions in a collaborative design environment
Team engagement
Creating presentation materials
Assisting team members in construction detailing
Collaborating with other Strada design disciplines
Using knowledge of the general concepts of landscape design including site analysis, project theming, schematic design, and design development.
Assisting the project team with the preparation of project documentation during all phases of design, such as project graphics and exhibits, site grading, paving designs, walls, structures, site lighting, planting, and irrigation design, as well as layout of land uses for buildings and other facilities.
Assisting in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Performing due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start new projects.
Desired Skills and Abilities
In-depth understanding of hardscape and landscape construction technologies
Strong design sensibility and knowledge of Pennsylvania/Mid-Atlantic regional plants
A facility for CAD, BIM and presentation software
Ability to share design ideas and thought leadership
At least 2 years of Landscape Architecture experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proactive, resourceful self-starter who can multi-task
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
A strong working knowledge of relevant drafting/rendering software, such as SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Possess proficient sketching abilities resulting in strong conceptual designs.
Knowledge of plant materials, terminology and planting design.
Excellent communication, time management, graphic and organizational skills.
