The Opportunity:

Geis Companies is looking to hire a Site/Civil Designer, who will work directly with our Preconstruction Department, on our ever growing pipeline of work, to combine creativity and technical knowledge, on a vast diversity of projects, based out of our Streetsboro Office.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate on various phases of site and civil design from conceptual plans, preliminary grading plans, and preliminary utility plans, along with some onsite experience.
• Project Diversity of various typology of projects that may consist of, but not limited to: Industrial, Multi-Family, Mixed Use, Urban Planning, Commercial, Cooperate Office, Lab/Medical, Historic Preservation and Renovations, and Retail Projects, which will continue to allow a candidate a diverse opportunity of project experience.
• Work directly with consultants, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
• Resolve technical and design issues
• Assist in team and client communication, reporting directly with supervisor
• Work closely with Municipalities and Regulatory Agencies to ensure project requirements are understood and followed
• Create Preliminary Pricing Civil Drawings, which may include, but not limited to (Preliminary Grading Plans, Preliminary Utility Plans, which also includes sizing of those Utilities, and Provide Cut and Fill Takeoffs, with the objective of creating a balanced site.
• Work closely with testing agencies and other consultants to solicit Geotechnical Reports, Environmental Reports, Traffic Engineering Reports, and Wetlands Consulting

Your Qualifications

• 1-7 years’ experience designing site and civil projects of varying scale, Workplace experience a plus, but not required
• Degree in related field (Land Planning or Civil Engineering)
• Strong Common Sense and Problem Solving Skills
• Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
• Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to problem solve both individually and as a part of a project team
• Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, such as Sketchup and AutoCAD, Revit is a plus
• Strong organizational and collaboration skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, along with working in a fast paced environment
