Scott Edwards Architecture is seeking a Specification Writer to join our staff.

For the position of Specification Writer, we are seeking a candidate possessing excellent communication skills, advanced knowledge in construction document preparation, and high attention to detail.  The ideal candidate will be motivated, dependable, and willing to make a long-term commitment to working in this position.

Requirements

• Arch professional degree or M. Arch graduate degree
• 10 years of experience in construction document production and a minimum of 5 years in specification writing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
• Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) or Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) certification a plus.
• Experience using Deltek MasterSpec software a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

• Proficient in reviewing design intent, drawings, and other project information related to writing and editing specifications for a range of project types and sizes.
• Meet with project design leads, to coordinate compliance with project requirements, institutional guidelines, product application, and compliance with applicable regulations and codes.
• Provide project team assistance and guidance in differentiating between similar products; provide product research and comparisons for project teams as needed.
• Maintains and contributes to the office master specifications database and developing specification section templates.
