Job Description:
Goldberg Group Architects is a small firm with a big history. Founded in 1981 by Lawrence Goldberg, we specialize in Justice, Commercial, and Industrial architecture. We have offices in St. Joseph and Kansas City and projects underway throughout the Midwest. GGA offers health, life, vision, and dental insurance, Simple IRA, remote work twice a month, and unlimited PTO. You will have a choice to work out of our Kansas City, MO office or our St Joseph, MO office.
GGA is seeking an Interior Designer or Interior Architect to join our team. You will be responsible for working directly with clients to identify their needs and provide thoughtful solutions for the design of interior spaces. As a member of the design team, you will be responsible for coordinating and communicating the project ideas, leading the details from concept through construction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct and/or lead interior programming efforts.
- Develop space plans and design concepts.
- Prepare presentations and early design studies using 2D and 3D drawings for client / project team review.
- Design interiors for safety, functionality, and aesthetics as part of a new build or renovation process.
- Prepare and update construction documents, including but not limited to floor plans, elevations, RCP’s, millwork elevations & details, finish plans & details.
- Develop innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to intended purposes and functions which are reflective of client goals and within budget.
- Maintain and organize project files, schedules, and specifications.
- Manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment to facilitate working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Perform site visits and assist in construction supervision. Regional overnight travel required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional services from schematic design through closeout.
- Organized, detail-oriented, deadline driven, fast paced team player.
- Experience and knowledge of the selection and application of all interior finishes to support building use and design intent.
- Strong knowledge of fixtures, furnishings, and equipment (FF&E), including lighting, signage, and artwork selections to support design intent.
- Experience and interest in traditional and modern detailing with skills in the use of light, colors and textures and an understanding of durability and strength of materials.
- Strong technical and practical skills with an understanding of architectural conventions, including floor plans, elevations, sections, RCP, electrical, and millwork.
- Proficiency with Revit, BIM Collaborative Pro, and 3D Modeling and rendering programs (Enscape and/or
Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong understanding of project schedules and lead times.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing to work out of both offices from time to time
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from CIDA accredited program
- At least 5 years of experience as Interior Designer / Interior Architect or in related field
- NCIDQ preferred
