As Senior Healthcare Planner, your responsibilities will be to assist the project manager in establishing the scope of work, developing and documenting concepts, schematics and the design development phases for a project and assisting in establishing the Basis of Design (BOD) and Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR). You will manage the Childers team members as well as consultants. This is a full-time salaried position. Responsibilities of a Senior Planner include, but are not limited to, the following:
Pre-Design/Concepts Design Phase:
During the pre-design phase your responsibilities will be to assist the project manager in establishing the scope of work for the project. Participate in developing work plans, project design schedules, allocating team members, etc. Additionally, beginning the draft BOD and OPR for the project, coordinating initial engagement with consultants and overseeing the production and assimilation of deliverables for Pre-Design phase.
During the Concepts phase your responsibilities will include developing adjacency diagrams, architectural site plans, departmental diagrams, coordinating conceptual design ideas with the senior designer. Overseeing the production and assimilation of deliverables for the Concepts phase.
Area of emphasis during the Concept phase includes well documented exhibits and notes establishing the owner’s requirements and requests in a way that can be tracked through the life of the project to ensure successful implementation.
Schematic Design Phase:
Your responsibility will be to serve as the senior team member collaborating with reporting staff and consultants as well as serve as the main voice of Childers in communication with the client’s user group. Tasks include:
Lead and participate in Client meetings to determine project goals ensuring proper documentation that is trackable through the life of the project.
Identify challenges, opportunities, and issues, that will have an impact on the project design.
Ensure the planning solution is aligned with the space program, BOD and OPR.
Ensure proper documentation of additional BOD and OPR information as it is identified during these early phases of the project. Verify that requirements are being implemented both by the Childers team and Childers consultants.
Be familiar with applicable codes and standards; including FGI requirements. Coordinate Life Safety Consultant comments with deliverables.
Oversee Production of presentation materials for meetings.
Lead and coordinate with Childers Team Members and consultants to ensure implementation of design goals and concepts are being achieved.
Work collaboratively to proactively solve design challenges and resolve design issues – refining schematic designs based on feedback from Client user groups.
Design Development Phase:
Your responsibility will be to lead the project and to continue implementing the design via the OPR and BOD requirements – including:
Ensuring Life Safety requirements are being met via the Life Safety consultant coordination and comments.
Direct the Childers team in researching materials and products for the project.
Collaborate in presentation with the Senior designer on the project.
Take a collaborative approach and proactively solve design challenges, and resolve design issues.
Document or direct team members to document user input and ensure proper tracking and implementation.
Review OPR and BOD requirements and ensure implementation.
Serve as quality control point for the review of Design Development Documents & Specifications.
Review, coordinate and collaborate with external consultants to ensure their documents are properly developed.
Lead design reviews during phase.
Construction Document Phase:
Serve a quality control point as it relates to implementation of planning specific BOD and OPR requirements.
Collaborate in coordination of building systems
Construction Administration Phase:
Assist the Childers CA team in answering RFI’s and reviewing submittals that affect the planning effort for the project.
10+ years of experience at an architectural firm as a healthcare planner.
Demonstrate sound design and planning skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary shall be market-rate, commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge ($80,000 - $150,000).
