Work with leadership, other Deltek business units, and AIA to set strategic priorities for development of Specification content used in MasterSpec and Specpoint, taking into consideration industry trends, technological advances, and growth areas.
Drive decisions about new sections to be added or discontinued to the Specification libraries, and structure of sections (e.g. broad/narrow scope or performance-based), considering input from MasterSpec review committees, customers, AIA, and internal stakeholders.
Foster collaboration between architectural and engineering disciplines in content and structure of MasterSpec sections, to improve consistency across disciplines and sections.
Working with leadership to develop and enforce MasterSpec policies, including but not limited to, those governing inclusion of manufacturers and products in MasterSpec, partnership and linking conventions, and suitable sources of research for MasterSpec updates. Act as final arbiter in cases of disagreement among staff.
Advise senior management on staff participation in industry conferences and committee membership, to ensure MasterSpec is well represented and writers have ample opportunity to develop subject matter expertise that will benefit the development of MasterSpec content.
Act as the chief subject matter expert liaison with AIA regarding MasterSpec content and specification writing.
Represent MasterSpec to the public, providing thought leadership through participation in AIA committees and meetings, as well as through written and oral presentations at AIA and other industry events, Deltek blog posts and Town Hall meetings, etc.
Provide leadership and management of the MasterSpec writing team including:
Hiring and performance management of staff
Providing guidance and direction on content production
Training new staff in MasterSpec procedures.
Enforcing content writing conventions and adjustments to the MasterSpec template to assure MasterSpec content is optimized for Deltek’s spec content delivery platforms.
Conduct or delegate technical review of MasterSpec sections prior to publication.
Spearhead AIA peer review committee meetings, taking the lead on planning meeting agendas, recruiting members, and getting AIA input on committee business as necessary.
Advise other Deltek business units, including product development, sales, marketing and customer support to advance MasterSpec and its role in Deltek product offerings.
Registered architect or licensed professional engineer duly licensed in a jurisdiction of the United States. Must be in good professional standing with no prior or pending professional disciplinary actions by a licensing or registration board. Must not be currently or within the last 10 years involved in malpractice litigation as a defendant concerning the quality of his/her work as an architect or professional engineer.
If an architect, must be a member in good standing of AIA.
Construction Specifiers Institute CDT required with CCS and/or CCCA certification(s) preferred. LEED AP or other sustainability certification a plus.
15+ years of experience in building construction. Experience must include working in building construction settings for firms specializing in engineering, architecture, construction management, specification consulting, or project management.
