Kardent is seeking a full-time Designer / Job Captain person with 7-10 years working on various projects through all aspects of Architectural Design, Production and Construction Administration. This position will require strong organizational skills, in addition to strong design and technical abilities. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Follow and create conceptual design concepts, final design concepts, construction documents and construction administration through the course of projects under the direction of the Project Manager.
Can space plan (in front of a client) up to 5,000 sq ft
Ability to space plan from program and meet programming requirements.
Capable of developing a program for design and translating to space plan.
Transform initial rough designs into working documents.
Consult and support other Kardent employees and clients or consultants on the development of plans and specifications.
Ability to develop a pricing plan from a space plan, capability of developing pricing plans to establish project budget.
Coordinates with team to meet Code and Zoning requirements.
ADA Code knowledge and ability to complete ADA Survey.
Providing project team coordination for the finished plans, specification, and material selections required for construction
Coordinate work with other disciplines and consultants to meet overall project objectives
Preparing and ensuring accuracy of technical documents
Accurately estimate fees, determines scope of work and prepares project-based work authorizations for review with PM
Review code requirements and city requirements for each project and coordinate with PM and Designer to implement/ meet requirements
Has knowledge of exiting codes
Solid comprehension of State and Local Building Codes, including Accessibility
Working knowledge of navigating through the city Agencies
Responsible to fully research and coordinate, document and submit all plan check corrections with applicable city agencies and engineers
Responsible to fully research and coordinate requirements of vendors such as A/V, cabling and security and correctly document required infrastructure in CDs
Responsible to fully address construction issues in field and provide appropriate direction to GC/Subs
Diverse knowledge of architectural principals and practice, uses advanced techniques and has responsibilities for finished plans, specifications and material approval
Participating in the construction administration of project assignments, including quality control
Communicate effectively in meetings with clients, consultants and contractors
Strong time management and multitasking skills, flexibility providing support for various projects
Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Photoshop, Sketch-up and Microsoft Suite are a must
