Principal Objective of the Position: The Design Manager will be responsible for specific design related scope with the responsibility of oversight, staffing, and execution. This role reports to the Director of Design and is designed to help the company create and maintain design consistency, design integrity, and design continuity as the company expands its platform and associated brand.
Responsible for assisting in the creation and management of a working budget for specific design scope of multiple projects at a time.
Lead on project design presentations to Buckingham executive teams
Acts as a resource for code related issues to development and construction team members.
Lead on property improvement plan for existing Buckingham portfolio
Lead on Art procurement, contract, and installation
Acts as the owner for Value engineering and construction administration related tasks (in coordination with development VPs)
Management of aspects of the external design process through architects, consultants, contractors and vendors and assists in pricing as required. Responsible for managing submittals and requests for information that require owner input and/or review within specified design scope.
Work in coordination with the EVP and CEO to enhance and standardize the Buckingham product offerings.
Represent Buckingham externally at Industry Events and Panels to lead conversation around design trends and topics.
Serve as point of contact between Buckingham Companies and specific outside consultants to coordinate specified Architecture, engineering, and Interior Design scopes as required for general coordination and design.
Coordinates with Development/Construction to achieve highest level of design possible within the budget specifications.
Coordinates with the design teams to assure that the overall design aesthetic for specified scopes is designed and executed in line with Buckingham standards.
Assists in creating standardized finish packages and specifications to pick up efficiency in overall design process.
Responsible for oversight and selection of specific consultants as required and for contract negotiation associated with each.
Responsible for preparation of unit finish selections, coordination of amenity design, interior common area design, signage coordination, exterior lighting coordination, corridor treatment, and other design aesthetic as directed by EVP/CEO.
Facilitates selection, procurement, and installation of signage, art FFE & OSE and other items as directed by EVP/CEO.
Ensure company policies, procedures and guidelines are complied with in a professional manner and are demonstrated in all oral and written communications.
Willingness to travel on an “as needed” basis as dictated by performance goals, job description or as directed by supervisor.
Build and maintain key relationships with design consultants, architects, and engineers to create consistent design teams that can process multiple Buckingham projects at a time to enhance the overall design process.
Bring solutions to simplifying the concept design process and overall drawing timelines to speed up to the design time turnarounds.
Motivate the internal and external design teams as applicable to perform at a high functional level.

Architecture Degree (Required)
Valid Driver’s License
Minimum of five years of experience in the area of architecture with demonstrated experience in the commercial real estate industry.
Computer literacy sufficient to operate computer graphic applications (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, PhotoShop, AutoCad, Revit, etc.), spreadsheet and word processing applications (Microsoft Office) and other business-related software.
Experience in overall project planning, leadership, budget creation, cost monitoring and forecasting.
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills

Excellent understanding of current building standards, codes and variance process
