Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. Your expertise in historic preservation, along with strong research and writing skills, will allow you and a team to manage architectural inventories, in-field recordation, treatment recommendations, preservation planning, archival and historical research, NHPA eligibility evaluations, report writing and related duties. Both positions require a Master’s or other graduate degree with specialization in historical architecture, historic preservation, architectural history, public history, history or similar field of study and a minimum of eight years of related experience. Manhattan Project NHP Historic Building Specialist
In December 2014, the National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law. The law includes provisions authorizing a Manhattan Project National Park located at three sites; one being Los Alamos, New Mexico. As a part of the Cultural Resources program at LANL, you will play a key role in the historic preservation of the Manhattan Project National Park buildings on Laboratory property by overseeing National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 compliance related to these structures.
