Our in-house design team is located in Austin, Texas, and designs the majority of StoryBuilt projects across the country. We are seeking an Interior Designer to join the design team, to contribute to all StoryBuilt projects, as well as support other StoryBuilt stakeholders. The primary role of Interior Designer at StoryBuilt is to design common spaces and model unit interiors, and to select all project finish materials, furnishings, and fixtures, under the supervision of design leadership, to make sure that all project interiors are on brand in all four StoryBuilt markets (Austin, Dallas, Seattle, Denver.)
4-year degree in Architecture or Interior Design or other related field
6 to 10 years of experience in the design field, with at least 4 years focused on interior design
NCIDQ certification preferred but not required
In depth knowledge of residential and commercial finishes
Extensive experience with furniture procurement and specifications
Understanding of the principles of space planning
Ability to develop and present design concepts
A strong eye for design and a proactive approach to solving problems
Knowledge of ADA guidelines and other local building codes in regards to interior design
Software: AutoCAD, Revit and Adobe Suite proficiency preferred, but not required
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Interior design of all common spaces and model units in all StoryBuilt projects.
During design development of all projects, collaborate with the purchasing and sales teams to select finishes, fixtures, and appliances for residential units, common spaces, lobbies and amenity spaces, as required, to ensure project interiors are on brand with the project story and brand identity. Create sample boards for sales teams (or manage third party consultants.)
When appropriate, create standard design palettes for StoryBuilt projects, to assist buyers in choosing pre-selected designer material groupings.
Work with design team to establish a library of standard interior details (including kitchen islands, stair railings, tile trim, and millwork.)
Establish and coordinate preferred vendor program with purchasing and sales teams, to assist buyers with post-closing construction and installations (including window coverings, closet fit-out, custom finishes, home automation/audio visual, and outdoor living spaces.)
Travel to StoryBuilt markets (Seattle, Dallas, Denver) to present and coordinate with local sales and purchasing teams. Position will travel 25% of time.
Compensation and Benefits:
