The Senior Casino Construction Project Manager position is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and direction for construction management activities on projects to ensure they are on time, budget, schedule, cost, and project performance to ensure the requirements for the contract. Projects may include large scale casino, hotel, entertainment, retail, restaurant, parking or other mixed use venues. Scope of work will include major and minor remodels, property and office renovations and new construction projects within and related to the casino facilities and hotel properties.
You will be responsible for assisting the Director, Casino Construction Management in the planning and direction of the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic direction of construction projects. You must be adaptable to change and have the capacity for a sizable workload. You will be required to work with a sense of urgency and must work well under pressure in a collaborative team environment. In addition, you will ensure the project remains on schedule and concludes successfully on time and on budget.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and administer project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures.
Provide oversight management of project logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization.
Perform key role in project planning, budgeting and identification of resources needed.
Review and approve project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking costs and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.
Ensure that construction activities move according to predetermined schedule.
Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
Oversee the coordination of all parties involved in the project, which include the architects, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and laborers.
Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all sub-teams.
Prepare and submit budget estimates, regular progress and earned value analysis and cost tracking reports.
Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.
Perform regular, periodic inspection of construction sites. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
Ensure effective contract administration including generation, review, management, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation. Assure that internal controls are in place at each step of the process.
Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
Serve as a key link with clients and review the deliverable prepared by team.
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, suppliers and subcontractors.
Develop and implement quality control programs.
Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site. Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure proper procedures are being carried out.
Plan, organize and direct activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities and systems.
Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
Assist in developing specifications for construction, repair and modification projects for the purpose of providing them to architects, contractors, specialists, construction management firms, etc. for selection and awarding of contracts.
Write Requests for Proposal and Requests for Quotes.
Coordinate capital construction activities ensuring that all phases of construction project are completed within specifications and with minimal disruption to the Reservation or Casino.
Prepare bid analyses when required and be able to objectively prepare vendor recommendation action items for approval and contracting.
Monitors project activities ensuring objectives are achieved within budget and timeframes and in compliance with established requirements.
Prepare written materials documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Review a variety of construction-related information ensuring completeness of records.
Ensures vendors are accurately performing their contracted duties and construction projects.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum BS/BSCE Degree and/or license/registration in Architecture, Development, Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor degree.
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive responsible experience on a Construction Management team supervising or managing high impact construction projects.
Experience in large remodel and casino based projects highly desired.
Ability to organize and administer the construction management of construction projects with full scope capability for steps from preconstruction to final punch list.
Experience with over-all construction management on complex projects from preconstruction through final punch-list and delivery.
Must possess advanced level knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering and construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices thorough understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications.
Good understanding of MEP building systems required.
Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards is essential.
Current knowledge of local, state and federal building and fire codes.
Some AutoCAD knowledge desirable.
Technical level experience with Microsoft Professional Office Tools such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Project Management software experience such as MS Project.
Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
PE license, PMP certification, and/or California Contractors license preferred.
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.

Primary work environment is within a climate-controlled office setting, although some work requires working out of a field office at the construction site to monitor the project and make daily decisions about construction activities.
Often exposed to sounds and noise levels, such as from earth-moving equipment, that may be distracting and uncomfortable.
Required to wear protective equipment often, such as hard hats, when touring a construction site.
May work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing an office space/construction trailer.
Often work in buildings without heating or air conditioning, such as portable trailers or unfinished structures.
Must be “on-call”, often 24 hours a day.
Work requires travel to various properties and construction projects. Incumbent may also be required to travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment where responsiveness and customer service are highly valued.
Strength sufficient to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds below or at waist level; exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.

May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke; mechanical and electrical hazards of equipment and underground-overhead utilities; fumes and odors of paint, diesel; dust from excavations, trenching and cement work; toxic substances such as glue; dry chlorine, asbestos pipe and PVC.
Incumbent will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as rain, wind, cold, and hot climates.
Incumbent will be exposed to high dust, dirt, grease, chemicals, and heavy moving machinery.
Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
