Perkins Eastman is currently seeking a talented and experienced individual to be a Regional Practice Area Leader in our Charlotte office to help lead and expand our Education, Civic, and Cultural sectors. The position will be responsible for developing a Regional strategic plan for growth to provide strategy and design services to Education, Civic, and Cultural focused clients in Charlotte and the SE Region.
The Perkins Eastman Charlotte Office provides clients full design services from strategy, to programming and planning, to high-performance buildings with design excellence across a variety of practice areas in the local and regional market. This position will be a key leader in the office, working with the current leadership and talent to help continue to grow our presence in Charlotte and the SE Region.
What You Will Do:
Work directly with the Firmwide Education, Civic and Cultural Leaders, Regional Directors, and Office/Studio Leaders to help vision and grow the market and office.
Develop, communicate and execute a Practice Area Strategic Plan which includes market positioning, revenue and sales projections, and budget, while maintaining a backlog of work and a pipeline of market opportunities across the region.
Possess the ability to drive business development, including identification of project opportunities, pursuit strategy (including interviews), and contract negotiation across the market sector.
In collaboration with other firm leaders in the Practice Areas, leverage the capabilities of the Firm and help build the practice within the office.
Have an existing network of connections to clients, institutions, public agencies, developers, landlords and consultants in the market and maintain excellent relationships with existing and potential clients.
Expand opportunities to work across multiple practice areas within the office and firm.
Recruit, develop and mentor talent to continue to grow the Charlotte office team and work on projects.
Lead a team as Principal-in-Charge in the development of each project’s behavioral, aesthetic, and technical performance goals.
Develop client and practice strategies, market positioning and leadership within a design practice focused on market sector clients.
Regularly presenting at regional and national industry events and maintain involvement in local and national associations.
Experience developing relationships with new and existing clients that would enhance the Firm’s capabilities and positioning in the Education, Civic and Cultural market sectors both locally and regionally.
Experience leading project teams to program, conceptualize, and document projects within the market sector.
Proven track record of success in working in a senior management role with the development of Education, Civic and Cultural clients, including participation in the development of client relationships.
Proven leadership and management skills, including the ability to develop collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplined teams.
Connected and well-regarded within the community and active in industry organizations
Excellent writing, speaking, and public presentation skills.
Exceptional skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
Experienced in AutoCAD, Revit and Sketch-up advantageous, but not required.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Interior Design, or related profession.
LEED Accreditation preferred.
Individual who has passed the ARE, NCIDQ, or related professional accreditation, or plans to complete in the near term.
A commitment to the principles of sustainable design and experience integrating them on specific projects.
Versatile, self-motivated and articulate.
Available to travel within the SE Region.
