The Assistant Director of Engineering and Construction Management serves as a member of the Facilities Management (FM) leadership team, sharing responsibilities for the day-to-day operations within the FM department and supports the Mission, Vision, Values of Facilities Management, and CSU’s Principles of Community. The position leads, facilitates and coordinates the engineering and construction management of multiple construction and engineering projects, ensuring that project goals are met within the prescribed time frame and funding, and oversees the engineers providing maintenance engineering services to the trades and utilities sections of FM. The Assistant Director is responsible for supervision of Engineering (including Environmental and Sustainability) and Construction Project Management. The position plans and organizes major maintenance, repair, and renovation projects including buildings, infrastructure and systems. Position serves as liaison to the campus community to effectively and properly coordinate FM engineering and project management services, so that the highest possible level of customer satisfaction is maintained. Represents FM in a professional and responsible manner on various University committees and meetings. REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field. • PE license or Registered Architect/Landscape Architect or Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification. • Demonstrated leadership experience with 3 years’ experience supervision in either engineering or construction project management. • Minimum 10 years of experience managing engineering and multiple construction projects with at least 5 years’ experience with the construction and/or renovation of a broad range of building types and increasing complexity and responsibility in architecture, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering. OR • Bachelor’s degree • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification. • Demonstrated leadership experience with 3 years’ experience supervision in either engineering or construction project management. • Minimum 15 years of experience managing engineering and multiple construction projects with at least 5 years’ experience with the construction and/or renovation of a broad range of building types and increasing complexity and responsibility in architecture, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• Additional certifications or licenses demonstrating commitment to continued education in relevant areas (examples: LEED, CEFP, PMP, CCM, CEM, related Building Code) • Advanced degree in a related field • Demonstrated experience to analyze, interpret and prepare construction documents and contracts, technical and financial reports • Demonstrated experience in one or more application software related to: -Computer-aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and design review-related software, e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit -Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or similar system, e.g., Maximo, AssetWorks AiM, TMA • Previous higher education, similar large government or industry-related experience • Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
