The Project Architect Arete Design Studio (ADS) organizes and executes his/her own projects to ensure excellence and efficiency. With occasional support from the Principal and ADS Project Managers, the Project Architect works within ADS's team culture to establish cooperation and communication with consultants, vendors, and ADS's staff. This position requires understanding of both the design and technical aspects of projects.
Manages and produces projects from site plan and initial design concept through construction?administration phase, including design documents, construction document?development, scheduling and budget management, shop drawings review and construction support
Reviews design and construction documents to ensure compliance with firm standards, building systems, codes, and other requirements.
Coordinates with consultants,?external partners, and ADS staff to maintain effective project communication on design, construction documents, details, and administrative details.
Works with Principal and senior PM to lay out site plans, conceptualize land plans, and develop other design documents.
Assists Principal with entitlement services by conducting research on parcels and municipalities, developing design documents, and creating presentations.
Assists with?permitting process, ensuring that municipalities receive all necessary documents.
Reconciles ADS priorities and client goals to develop and deliver projects that meet client expectations, generate profit, and contribute to strategic vision of ADS.
May mentor ADS's junior?staff to call forth creativity and excellence in a way that delivers on client expectations and facilitates staff growth.
Skills and Abilities
5+ years of progressively responsible project experience, particularly in commercial and/or industrial sectors.
A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
Understands design aspects of project development.
Technical knowledge of design, building trends, energy efficiency, and construction methods.
Relevant knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and permitting process.
Outstanding attention to detail, with an ability to produce detailed, high quality projects in an allocated number of hours.
Strong communication skills, with an ability to build productive working relationships with clients, staff, consultants, and vendors.
Solid work ethic, personal integrity, and high professional standards, including an appreciation for maintaining confidential information.
Proficiency in?AutoCAD required. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite,?SketchUp, and office management platforms preferred.
