About Judge + Associates architects and planners
J+A is a team-structured professional corporation providing comprehensive, multi-scale architectural, planning and interiors services, with a focus on resort style architecture in local and regional mountain communities. Founded in 1996, the firm evolved from the understanding that service and design are the inseparable and interchanging key ingredients to the artful creation of built form. Our cooperative response from the broadest objectives down to the smallest details is the backbone of our design service. Servicing the dreams and goals of our clients through innovative and creative approaches allows us to create timeless impressions in Architecture. Our approach to the symbiotic relationship between design and building is simply to empower the ordinary; to realize the clear and consistent solution requires an energetic commitment to the continual examination of relationships between the aesthetic, the theoretical, the technological and the practical. Furthering these general principles, the specific base point for each of our projects involves interpreting the site specific natural landscape, assimilating the client program, and understanding the relationship of natural light ...with space and proportion. The basis for interpretation follows from the strict understanding of history, reinterpreted within the project context. The comprehensive and diverse backgrounds of the J+A design team not only shape the unique personality of the company, but also serve to support and inform our design approach and methodology. With design and building experience in educational, institutional, commercial, medical, residential, recreational, spiritual and resort projects across the nation, our studio maintains a wise and respectful perspective on architecture and construction. Our current work is rooted in the multi-faceted levels of commercial, resort and residential architecture; the systems complexities from this building type help us to maintain the rigorous dialogue critical for the design, planning and construction for all building types. J+A continues to evolve and hone its cooperative approach toward architecture and the building industry. Our constant and consistent process is to find solutions that are less about workable and more about remarkable.
