EYP is in search of an experienced Academic Science Planner/Designer to be responsible for focusing EYP’s intellectual capital in key areas and gaining recognition for the firm’s expertise among clients and peers. Will provide input to project teams focused on scientific planning and execution efforts toward the successful completion of complex academic facilities for STEM education and research. Responsibilities will include leading the overall programming as well as academic classroom and lab design planning efforts. This individual will also:
Provide technical knowledge in the programming and laboratory planning of academic teaching, research or other technical facilities as well as technical planning expertise and leadership for laboratory facilities in the areas of programming, design, fit-out planning, equipment planning, MEP systems integration planning and casework specification.
Communicate planning concepts to project teams, both verbally and through graphic and written reports.
Develop planning concepts for project documentation and construction.
Apply appropriate quality assurance and quality control methods throughout project.
Develop and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with existing and potential clients.
Actively mentor and develop the skills of EYP staff in academic science planning and design.
Actively seek new knowledge in the design and planning of scientific spaces for education and research.
Professional degree in Architecture or Engineering with at least 15 years of relevant experience. Professional licensure is required. LEED accreditation is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with clients/user groups to understand project requirements, translate those requirements to our internal teams and represent the firm as a technical expert in the marketplace.
