The Contracts Manager/Director is responsible for negotiating opportunities at a national and local level for vendors through national deals. This position will support various national and local purchasing teams in their procurement efforts. This position will develop and apply sourcing models and contracting strategies to solve various types of procurement challenges such as opportunity sizing, total cost of ownership, negotiation, and incentive scenarios related to the acquisition of goods and services. The title of the position will be determined at the time of candidate selection based on experience, qualifications, and skill-set.
Researches and evaluates potential new vendors; identifies new sources of supply that will result in cost savings and better overall product offering.
Drives formal sourcing process for evaluation and selection of national vendors.
Performs pre-negotiation analytics and due diligence.
Initiates, evaluates, develops, and negotiates subcontractor, supplier and services agreements, and manages them accordingly. Negotiates vendor and product supply agreements that best meet the needs of the operation in relation to price, quality, service and availability.
Ensures compliance to Company agreement and risk policies and procedures.
Ensures competitive bidding and contract development activities are conducted in an ethical and legal manner.
Advises and assists other employees in the proper method to conduct negotiations and analyze results relating to purchase orders, goods and service agreements, tendering and contract development.
Assists with developing and implementing purchasing policies, processes and strategic plans in line with corporate purchasing and risk strategies and objectives.
Provides professional purchasing and contract related advice to all levels of Company personnel.
The tools for success…
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management or related field required. Juris Doctor degree preferred. Applicable coursework in contract and business law required.
Prior experience in contract negotiation, drafting and administration required.
Strong negotiations skills. Demonstrated successes in formalizing relationships.
Keen understanding of key business and legal terms and conditions.
Comprehension of risk management practices.
Procurement or construction experience desired. Recent law degree with relevant industry experience may apply.
