Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects, a 35+ person architectural design firm in New Orleans is seeking a full-time Specification Writer with 5 years of architectural specification writing experience. Individual must also be proficient in specification software programs, i.e. MasterSpec, Speclink-E.
This position works very closely with our architects, designers and consultants to complete projects. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.

Strong knowledge of building envelope components and material requirements of all building and facility types.
Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
Proficiency in specifications software programs (i.e. MasterSpec, SpecLink-E), MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within deadline.
Strong organizational skills and management style appropriate to responsibilities.
Working knowledge of professional practice issues and documents relating to specifications, including special requirements for complex front-end specifications
Ability to work effectively on a team, as well as independently.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Registered Architect with current license.
Minimum 5 years in architectural practice with prior experience in specifications development.
Construction Specifications Institute certification (CDT).
