Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations RE14009
University of Kentucky Design Philanthropy/External Relations
As the College of Design (CoD) at the University of Kentucky begins work on a major expansion, we are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking Director of Philanthropy & Alumni Relations. We are focused on propelling the college into a position of higher prominence within the design community by expanding existing programs in architecture, interiors and historic preservation but also through new programs and joint programs across the university. With these plans for programming expansion and a new focus on PR and communications, even a new building, we are positioned to expand the definition of design in academia. Our working vision statement is: “Our resolution is a re-imagined College of Design, infused with Kentucky's indigenous spirit. The vision is bold: new programs, new partners, new identity, all built upon our history and its imprint on our unfolding story.”
Through a celebration of the unique Kentucky landscape and culture, we aim to distinguish CoD from other colleges of design disciplines throughout the nation. The Director of Philanthropy & Alumni Relations will be charged with developing a complete alumni networking program to engage our stakeholders in supporting the work of the College; short and long-term plans for major gift cultivation will be the main directive of this position. The Director will coordinate with the Dean and the Director of Communications to ensure that development opportunities and benefits are integrated with marketing and programming plans to accomplish the strategic goals of the College. A personable approach and a familiarity with the design industry are necessary to fully realize this role.
Minimum qualifications are Bachelor's Degree and five years of experience. Prefer Master's Degree and experience with major gift cultivation in a college or university environment and familiarity with the design industry.
