Studio.BNA architects is located in Athens, Georgia. We are a design + research based architectural studio with an ideology rooted in an integration of site, environment, experience, and creativity.
We strive for simple and honest solutions to making; simple lines, composition, balance, and material integrity. Sustainable material and energy choices are inherent in all of our work. We strive to be efficient and considerate in our actions and our outcomes. Some solutions are subtle, some are bold and obvious, and every small step makes a progressive difference in the future of architecture as a modus for sustainable practice.
Our work to date represents a careful approach to a broad range of project types. Our studio work encompasses a wide range of typologies including new construction, adaptive re-use, transformations of historic textile and cotton oil mill complexes, habitat design, boutique lodging, student accommodations, restaurant + bar, and private residential.
Studio.BNA is both an architectural studio and a selective design/build shop where we create and fabricate components and spaces for several of our projects including restaurant + bar, furniture, concrete + steel lighting and intricate spatial components. Our shop creations can be viewed at www.verydarkgray.com.
We are a small studio that is growing. As more and more projects come on board, we need talented and creative people to join our team (http://www.studiobna.com/people/). We are seeking to fill two (2) positions for qualified architects/project manager/interiors architect to join our studio.

Position requirements include creative and talented individuals who are interested in challenging and diverse projects, who are technically proficient in building structures, experienced in code research and application, confident both in the studio and on a project site, interested and engaged by new creative challenges, and organized and multi-faceted. Our primary drawing production platform requires proficiency in REVIT.
We are looking for team members who can bring new ideas and insights to the studio environment and enjoy participating in a casually rigorous endeavor to always improve as a studio. Our team is very much a family, we all enjoy one another and our atmosphere is very positive. It is reasonably important that you like dogs, and if you have a best friend who is a friendly dog, he/she can join us most days at the studio. There's a green-way right outside our studio building with a walking trail through Athens.
If you are an avid woodworker, welder, or if you just like to tinker, we have a wood and steel fab shop that is part of our perk. We all love to make things. I am hard pressed to think of a weekend day when I have stopped by the shop that one of us wasn't in there working on a personal project. We are stocked with plenty of scrap steel and new or reclaimed wood; we have some pretty nice equipment which also makes the shop a lot of fun.
One thing about our studio that rivals others... Athens, Georgia. I am not from Athens, so this description is a genuine discovery and testament to Athens. This town is a secret, thought of primarily as home to UGA and football by those who don't know it. The secret is, this is an exceptional town, rich with creativity and diversity of people and landscape and local events. If you have children, the schools are excellent. We are close to some of the most exciting natural landscapes in the east (and I say this having lived in Livingston/Bozeman Montana for 12 years). We are surrounded by mountainous landscapes, streams, and waterfalls to the north, lakes to the north and east, a short drive to the coast, a short drive to Greenville SC, a couple of hours to Pisgah National Forest, and right in town are numerous river-parks, nature preserves, and the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia. Athens is well known for its cuisine and music. We can boast the Twilight Criterium, UGA women's soccer, Athfest, home of Creature Comforts and Terrapin breweries, and Atlanta is only an hour to the west.
If our studio and our town is a good fit for your talents and personality, we look forward to talking with you.
