The City Architect will lead the Public Works Department Office of the City Architect (OCA). The OCA serves as a resource for all City Departments, providing in-house architectural design, review and facility planning services.
The City Architect is responsible for managing business activities related to architectural and urban sustainability planning for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects and provides oversight and departmental coordination for CIPprojects to achieve the urban design and sustainability goals set by City Council.
This position leads architecture project managers and other professional staff in support of CIP projects and a broad range of other citywide facility planning projects, oversees technical reviews for quality assurance purposes to ensure City, State, Federal and Building Code laws are met, and coordinates with diverse stakeholder groups regarding architectural CIP projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university; plus (10) ten years of experience as a Registered Architect, (3) three years of which were in a supervisory or management capacity. Must be a Registered Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
